Scrapyard Tycoon
A downloadable game for Windows
Scrapyard Tycoon
Buy wrecks. Strip them bolt by bolt. Sell the parts. Build a scrap empire.
Scrapyard Tycoon is a first-person 3D car deconstruction tycoon. You start with a rusty hatchback, a wrench and $350. You finish with a fully automated yard, a crew of mechanics and a golden monument to your success.
A full run takes about 2–3 hours.
How it plays
-
Bid at the auction. Pick a wreck from the offers. Condition and price are a gamble, and now and then a rare barn find turns up.
-
Take it apart. Aim at a part, hold the mouse and watch the sparks fly. Parts come off in a sensible order: bumper before radiator, hood before engine, dash before ECU.
-
Sell the parts. Carry them to the counter, or unlock the drone network so they fly there on their own. Fill customer contracts for up to 2.5x the price.
-
Scrap the shell. A tow truck tips each new wreck into your bay and hauls the empty shell away. Later you can crush shells in a hydraulic press or an auto-baler.
-
Grow. Spend your profit on better tools, more bays, mechanics and better cars.
Features
-
Hands-on stripping with 30 different part types, from wheels and doors to engines, catalytic converters and ECUs.
-
7 tool tiers, from a plain wrench to a nano-disassembler. Better tools work faster, reach parts that were off limits and even recover more value.
-
8 car classes, from rusty hatchback to hyper supercar. The EV hides a huge battery pack. The supercar has a rear engine. The pickup has a truck bed.
-
8 work bays with hydraulic lifts for the underbody and engine hoists for the heavy stuff.
-
Hire and train mechanics who strip cars for you. Add a foreman to scrap finished shells and a dispatcher to buy cars automatically.
-
A living economy: customer contracts, market booms where one part sells for 2x or more, cash stuffed in gloveboxes, and auction gambling.
-
Skill and reputation that make you faster and your prices better the more you play.
-
Faster movement with sprint boots, a kick scooter and rocket boots.
-
Day and night cycle with lamp posts, floodlights and a flashlight for night shifts.
-
Juicy feedback: sparks, flying parts, dust, screen shake and the crunch of the hydraulic press.
-
Low-poly 3D with dynamic shadows, fog and a real sky, plus sound effects and music.
-
Autosave and a pause menu with sensitivity and volume settings.
Progression
Tools, carrying capacity, movement speed, extra bays, lifts, hoists, presses, drones, a parts washer, a detailing shop, an online store, auction licences and alerts, mechanics, mechanic training, and finally the Yard Empire Monument.
